RC Cars are quite popular as a gift today. Learn more about RC Cars and Trucks. And remote control cars will be one of the favourite hobbies in your family.
Remote control cars, or RC cars, are very different from traditional RC cars. Traditional models are not as fun and thrilling because the cars tend to be smaller. Also, the technology is not as advanced. Most are battery operated and when it comes to speed and maneuvering, there is not much to shout about.
Today, the RC cars scene is totally different. There are a wide variety of cars that you can play with. There are electric cars, as well as gas and nitro powered cars. The best part is, they come in almost any shape and sizes! If you don't like racing cars, you can try out trucks and buggies. Both on-road and off-road models are available for your enjoyment.
With better technology and bigger sizes, one would expect the prices to be sky high as well. However, due to intense competition from the Chinese, Japanese and Taiwanese manufacturers, prices are kept surprisingly low.
For those who are not satisfied with the original model, just spend a little money and you can customize your RC car to your own liking. You can buy new wheels for your car, or any body parts that you'd like to replace. The accessories and parts that you purchase can be used to enhance the appearance and performance of your car.
Many RC car enthusiasts are opting for the more exciting off-road 4WD cars. Just look around your neighborhood. Chances are, you can find remote control car communities that are very active. It's never fun to play with an RC car on your own. So you want to find an active group so that you can participate in races.
The benefits of belonging to an active community are endless. By being around people who share the same interest as you do, you can start interesting conversations about RC cars. More experienced hobbyists can share tips and advice with you. Learn from them and see if you can improve the speed of your car.
Usually, such communities hang out in a few man-made racing "circuits". A racing circuit can be a dirt track that is setup for races and practice sessions. There may be bumps, obstacles and deadly turns on the circuit. You can use the same tracks to practice controlling your car. Speed is nothing if you can't control it. You want your car to be able to complete races.
Once you are more confident in the handling of the car, you can start participating in races. However, note that the fine tuning process is always an on-going one. As your skill improves, you may find that you need to make improvements to your car. Also, you may need to tweak your car for maximum performance on different tracks.
But bear in mind that tweaking is not for everyone. Mostly, it's for more advanced RC hobbyists. If you prefer some simple entertainment, then choose a 2-speed 4WD that doesn't need much adjustments. The goal here is not to have a fast car. Rather, you just want to enjoy watching the monster car go over some really challenging obstacles. What fun!

This Christmas parents will be looking for the hot trends in toys. Retailers are going to present the best they have to entice customers to buy this holiday shopping season. Another interesting development is the focus on recession friendly toys. Basically the toy industry knows that it is one of the most vulnerable during economic downturns so it looks to make toy purchases worthwhile. This provides many opportunities to anxious parents still looking to provide their kids with great Christmas gifts even on a reduced budget. This article will explore some of the hot toy trends for 2009; however, there are also more that may become surprise favorites this holiday season.
Remote control toys are still very popular toys. This Christmas many of the more popular brands will be definitely be less expensive and well within your budget. A great example is the extreme Micro RC Helicopter. This remote control helicopter is small, light weight, and very durable allowing for both indoor and outdoor play. The best part is the cost. You can purchase it now for just around $40. This is a major discount on earlier models that were easily double the current price. This is not the only remote control toy experiencing major price reduction. There are remote control cars and boat that can also be purchased at similar prices.
There is also a trend for major comebacks by toys from previous holiday shopping seasons. Analysts are predicting toys such as Bop It and Hula hoops will once more be in big demand. Bop it also reflects the trend of miniaturization with a keychain version of the game. These toys are great because not only are they tried and true choices, but they also are cheaper now than in previous seasons.
Environmentally friendly toys are another big toy trend. The technology for recycling has come a long way and more products are being produced with recycled materials. The toy industry is no different. Whether it is stuffed toys or toy trucks there are plenty of new environmentally friendly toys that are made from100% recycled materials. The best part is that they are quite affordable. This way you will be able to purchase gifts that are not only inexpensive but also good for the planet.
There also some interesting trends with video games and their consoles. This season all of the major video game companies are slashing prices on their consoles. That includes every console from the PS3 to the Nintendo Wii. So if you were holding off on getting one for the kids now is one of the best times to do so. There is also the fact that there are some new games and accessories available. The Nintendo Wii now has an accessory that provides finer control which is need for new games such as Wii Resort.
Another hot toy trend is toys you can move with your mind. There is already a cost war between the two toys on the market that has started to drive prices down below $80. The one to look for is the Mindflex. This uses brainwaves sensors to move a ball through a challenging obstacle course.
If you want to do something extra special you can order a Santa Call. This allows your kids to speak to Santa himself! You can order it online and it is very affordable. This will give your kids a bit of holiday magic.

Getting Into Radio Control

About the Author
Aussies might like to check out the radio control cars or radio control airplanes at Hobby Heroes in Sydney, run by a dedicated hobbyist who likes nothing better than to help newcomers to the fold!
Fancy yourself as a model flyer or as a model race car demon? Radio control hobbies are amongst the most addictive probably because of the adrenalin rush you get! The sheer buzz of landing that warbird safely or taking that corner at speed in your drift car is one you cannot help but want more of.
Radio control hobbies are varied from beautiful yachts gracefully sailed on lakes to gliders silently riding the air currents and on to screaming drift cars and even huge model jet airliners. The common trait being they are all controlled remotely from a handheld radio transmitter.
Radio control models have been around since the 1950's and getting better all the time with advances in circuit technology and battery technology allowing more and more dependability and control. As transistor technology has miniaturized and chips have become cheaper more has been achievable at lower power requirements. Modern RC models use 2.4 gigahertz transmission systems making them less susceptible to interference from other radio sources.
Before you leap into a purchase however there are a few things to think about and clearly these vary with the particular flavor of RC you are smitten with.
The idea of getting airborne fast is an attractive one but without the right preparation and training it could well prove to be a short and expensive flight. It really is best to learn to fly with someone else, better still with an instructor who can start you off with a simulator before moving on to a buddy box system which is really a dual control system, one for you the student and one for the instructor to get you out of trouble.
Likewise with a radio controlled car - where are you going to use it without risking an expensive crash? There is absolutely no point in purchasing a screamer of a drift car without a deserted car park or basketball court to use it on. A monster truck on the other hand would be boring to use on such a surface, you need some rough ground for that baby.
Then you need to think whether electric or gas powered models are going to be right for you. They both have their pros and cons. Bear in mind gas powered models tend to be powerful and noisy but do require constant tuning. This is not as onerous as it sounds, just something to get used to. Electric models are quiet and lighter but batteries can be expensive, even allowing for the re-use you get with rechargeables.
The ability to get spares for your model should also be a factor in your decision making, no matter how careful you are you will have accidents and you will need spares!
Talk to other hobbyists before you make your choice and talk to your local hobby shop. The guys there are always looking to talk about their hobby because they're fanatics themselves and they want to promote their hobby by bringing new recruits into the fold, the marvelous world of radio control.

Have you seen the biggest rc car... in the world!
I'm excited to reveal to you an exciting hobby that will quickly consume your spare time . Be aware some folk might not want you to have this info...
Fast Family-Friendly Fun
The reason that electric remote controlled cars are the most popular might be due to the fact that most RC car hobbyists usually begin with the battery powered versions. The way in which an electric powered RC car works is simple and therefore very easy to maintain and operate.
Electric radio control cars are "family-friendly" cars, that is they are easy to operate and more importantly -- silent! This factor alone is one of the reasons so many parents opt to buy them for their children. (trouble is I am in my 40's and get sad when my son wants his car back)
The Nitro radio controlled cars are too complicated for the beginner, requiring a higher level of experience to operate them effectively. Whereas the electric version only requires you to put the batteries in and you're off.
Excellent Entry Level Car
As is normal in life very few of these beginners will go on to become serious radio control car hobbyists, but none the less, the electric car offers them an easy opportunity to experience the fun of radio control car racing.
Affordable
Of course the electric version is a lot less expensive than the gas powered RC car which is one of the main reasons for its popularity. The running costs of the electric car are much less than their fuel powered counterparts and thus can add up to a significant overall cost saving
The fuel used to power the gas versions is a mixture of Nitromtehane and Castor oil, available at specialty shops. With the electric RC car, batteries are all you need, however it makes a lot of sense to get a battery re-charger to reduce your costs even further.
Pre-assembled or DIY
These electric radio controlled cars are available pre-assembled or if you are the DIY type -- the kit form would appeal to your sense of achievement in actually piecing your RC car together.
Another appealing benefit of these cars is that you can use them indoors during rainy or cold weather.
Two main factors separate the electric version from the Nitro powered RC cars.
1) Noise
Electric cars are fairly silent during operation, which makes them suited to use indoors. The Nitro cars run on combustion motors which of course make a lot more noise. To add to the normal engine noise you would also have the added reverberation of sound bouncing off the walls which would amplify the sound considerably.
2) Smoke
Electric cars rely on clean burning energy -- Electricity which emits no harmful emissions to the surrounding atmosphere. It makes sense to have at least two batteries so that while the one is recharging you have the other to continue powering the car. If you have been toying with the idea of getting a taste for some fast action racing, get yourself an electric RC car.
I guarantee that you will find it a most exciting past time indeed.

About the Author
Safety tips for anyone that is considering buying radio controlled boats. They are a fun hobby but you should exercise these tips.
A wonderful surprise for any kid is to have a radio controlled boat delivered to their door. Taking the appropriate steps to ensure a fun boating experience is important because some boats are very fast and pose a danger if you don't educate yourself about them. 1) If you purchase an (RTR) ready to run boat then it comes assembled and is raring to go to attack the water but you should always inspect your RC Boat for any cracks or loose-fitting parts. After using it always inspect the prop as trash can get jammed in it.
2) The very last thing you intend to happen is have your vessel stuck in the middle of a lake and crazy you have no way to get it. RC Boats are not flawless and like cars occasionally you experience mechanical difficulties or your battery fails. Make sure you arrange a means to be able to retrieve your vessel. Speed boat, row boat, flippers, whatever you decide be certain you have something. Even your mom or dad in a dry suit
3) Its a good idea to always keep a tool caddy around to fine tune your boat or perform minor adjustments. Also clean cotton rags are a big help in drying off your boat.
4) Always keep your hands and hair away from the prop. This is very important to instill in your kids. Radio controlled boats are lots of fun when they are used carefully.
5) Run your cruiser in calm area away from swimmers and crowds. The last thing you intend to do is annoy every person near you. Be considerate and respectful.
6) Chat to your children about these tips and include them. While you are the parent and are ultimately accountable for them make them aware and dependable owners of rc boats as well. All together it is an enjoyable hobby and fun for all when you apply these tips.
